Processing Specialist
Ottawa, ON
The Processing Specialist is a member of the Processing Department and is responsible for the daily processing and production of alternate format documents and statements for the blind and partially sighted community – primarily through the use of proprietary software for automated processing of statements in alternate formats. The position is also responsible for the daily coding of documents using T-Base proprietary software and for supporting the work of other T-Base departments on an as-needed basis.
Duties and Responsibilities
The specific duties and responsibilities of the Processing Specialist are as follows:
- Processing customer documents and statements using T-Base proprietary software for the automatic and/or manual conversion of documents and statements into alternative formats in accordance with customer Service Level Agreements (S.L.A), Quality Standards and Work Instructions.
- Completing the processing of documents and statements in accordance with customer specific Work Instructions.
- Ensuring the efficient and accurate coding, proofing and production of alternate format documents.
- Completing and distributing reconciliation and other reports to customers as required.
- Understanding SLA requirements for all customers, including required turnaround times and download schedules.
- Identifying processing deficiencies and bugs through diligent application of Quality Assurance processes and standards. Reporting all such deficiencies to T-Base Development staff in a timely manner with accurate and complete descriptions in JIRA or such other ticket-tracking utility implemented by T-Base. Coordinating deployment of bug fixes and similar functionality with T-Base Development staff.
- Ensuring that processed documents and statements are sent to Production for timely printing and delivery and supporting the Production Department as needed.
- Summarizing processing volumes and tracking time spent on specific customer tasks in support of invoicing and human resources processes and through appropriate T-Base utilities, such as Big Time and JIRA.
- Communicating on a regular basis with members of other departments, including the Development Department, on the progress and status of any maintenance associated with customer tools.
- Assisting in other areas of Operations to ensure the timely completion and distribution of customer statements, as directed by the Manager or other senior staff in the office.
- As time permits, completing the Braille Certification Training and any other training as deemed appropriate to the effective performance of the job.
- Maintaining work area in a safe and clean fashion and following all health and safety policies and standards.
Qualifications:
Education & Security:
- A minimum completion of high school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in an office or production setting
- Must pass screening results for general and criminal background checks and credit history on an ongoing basis
- Knowledge of Braille and/or accessible formats would be considered an asset

Secure Transcription Specialist (Ogdensburg, NY )

The Secure Transcription Specialist is a member of the Secure Transcription Department and is responsible for the daily statement production, document reproduction, printing, packaging and shipment of alternate format documents and statements for blind, low vision and print disabled users. The position is also responsible for the daily coding of documents using T-Base proprietary software and for supporting the work of other T-Base departments on an as-needed basis.
The Secure Transcription Specialist reports directly to the Manager of Secure Transcription, who reports directly to the VP of Remediation Services.
Duties:
The specific duties and responsibilities of the Secure Transcription Specialist are as follows (such duties and responsibilities being subject to amendment or other changes as determined by T-Base Management on an ongoing basis):
- Understanding SLA requirements for all customers, including required turnaround times and applicable document production standards.
- Ensuring that documents and statements sent to Production are reproduced in the appropriate format, reviewed for compliance with applicable Quality Standards, packaged and shipped in a timely manner, within customer SLA requirements.
- Proofread alternat format documents on an ongoing basis, and coordinate document accuracy with transcription and production staff.
- Using FASTtrack (FT) for processing for US manual customers:
- Learning and using the FT tool for all manual secure transcription work.
- Gather feedback for improvements and share with other team members.
- Operating binding and printing equipment.
- Operating manual and automated embossing equipment.
- Stuffing and packaging parcels.
- Receiving and shipping parcels.
- Reporting quality problems to the appropriate personnel for timely correction.
- Tracking time spent on specific transcription tasks in support of invoicing and human resources processes and through appropriate T-Base utilities, such as Big Time and JIRA.

Overview
The Front End Software Engineer will help A360 customers become accessible by creating resources to answer advanced technical and strategic questions, by providing client guidance with both business and technical meetings, and via tailored code examples.
In addition, the Front End Software Engineer will work with our outstanding accessibility auditors to troubleshoot complex issues, write knowledge base articles and related content.

Responsibilities
Audit, Remediation & QA Support (60%)
- Become a leader in digital accessibility by combining guidance and training from our expert auditors with your front-end experience and knowledge.
- Understand and educate others on how modern web development fits with the business and mission of digital accessibility.
- Use expert knowledge of front-end development to help solve complex accessibility issues including code, process, and interpretation of guidelines, for our customers and for A360 accessibility auditors
- Provide day-to-day support to our accessibility auditors as they review customer sites, including answering questions and providing examples based on your experience in development environments.
- Provide technical leadership on customer calls when discussing remediation issues
- Help expand and manage our Knowledge Base, training videos, and other educational content
Strategic Advisement (30%)
- Represent A360 in a wide variety of situations to provide decisive guidance on issue management and maintenance, strategic goals, architectural impact assessment, work estimation, and more.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to customer teams to help them navigate and balance the complexities of digital accessibility, business and technical impacts, and goals of the organization.
- By partnering with the auditing staff, identify internal process gaps affecting client satisfaction, then develop action plans for resolving those gaps directly or by facilitating cross-disciplinary discussions. These include:

Accessibility Auditor with Accessible360 (Canada) (Remote)

Accessible360 provides accessibility audits, remediation support, and ongoing support and monitoring for companies large and small. Our diverse team brings a breadth of experience in accessibility, web development, marketing, sales, and technology that is focused on making websites and mobile apps more accessible for all people.
Accessibility Auditor
In this position, you will be at the core of our day-to-day operations, helping identify issues with websites, mobile applications and other digital assets for our customers. You will also help with the ‘artistry’ of audits, helping our customers fix these issues in a way that is not only compliant but intuitive and usable. Once customers websites have been fixed you will help determine whether these efforts have brought these assets into compliance with website and other accessibility standards. You will confirm that the remediation was done in a way that is not only compliant but intuitive and usable. The ideal candidate for this position has a web development background with a strong knowledge of HTML and CSS.
Our teams typically consist of a pair of auditors. One auditor is doing the screen reader portion of the audit. This person is typically blind and technically proficient in order to identify issues found within a site. The other person is handling keyboard-only, color contrast and related accessibility issues. This person is also helping the screen reader auditor to identify other visual issues that may not be readily apparent.
Because we work in pairs, many of these skills can be in either auditor but do not necessarily need to be in both.
Skills & Qualifications
The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:
- Proficient in HTML and CSS and some Javascript
- Ability to quickly identify, replicate and report issues with fixes made on a web page and verify fixes
- Ability to design and follow test plans, scenarios, scripts or procedures
- Ability to document problems, using a tracking system, and report defects to auditors or remediators
- Ability to monitor error resolution and track fixes
- An understanding of the web development life cycle
- Solid intuition for what constitutes a good user experience
- Self-starter, cooperative, detail-oriented person who thrives in a startup atmosphere
- Ability to independently learn new technologies and concepts
And we’d love it if you had one or more of these:
- Experience testing web sites and web applications
- Web front-end development experience
- Web back-end development experience
- An understanding of how a screen reader user navigates a web page

Associate Auditor with Accessible360 (Canada or the U.S.) (Remote)
Position: Associate Auditor

Location: Remote within Canada or the U.S.
Accessible360 is part of the T-Base Communications group of companies. A360 provides digital accessibility audits, remediation support, and ongoing monitoring for companies large and small. Our diverse team brings a wealth of experience in accessibility, web development, marketing, sales, and technology that is focused on making websites and mobile apps more accessible for all people. T-Base is the North American leader in design, production and delivery of accessible statements, documents, and online services for our customers in the financial, telecom, healthcare, government and education markets. Our A360 business is growing quickly. Our head office is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota and we are looking to fill multiple positions working remotely.
Associate Auditor
The Associate Auditor helps to identify issues with websites, mobile applications, and other digital assets for our customers, while also engaging in a four-week accessibility training program. While auditing, the Associate Auditor will test assigned pages or views against a checklist of common accessibility problems, and create an issue in the A360 issue tracking software for each identified failure. Previous accessibility experience is beneficial but not required.
Responsibilities
- Audit project pages/views against a defined checklist of issues – focusing first on color contrast
- Accurately report identified issues in our issue tracker
- Take screenshots illustrating identified issues
- Attend training and shadowing sessions
- Work with team members to understand project details, conduct audit and QA, and report findings to CSMs. Collaboration is key!
Knowledge Requirements
The following are the requirements for this position:
- Strong knowledge of HTML and CSS
- Strong general software and web skills
- Familiarity with the Google Chrome Inspector
- Eagerness to learn
- Self-starting, cooperative, detail-oriented person who thrives in a startup atmosphere
The following items are desirable, but not required:
- An understanding of web-based accessibility issues
- Javascript experience
- Mobile development experience (iOS, Android, React Native, etc.)
- Screen reader and other assistive technology experience
- Experience with the browser accessibility APIs, particularly in Chrome
Scheduling/Availability Requirements
- Available a minimum of 20 hours per week
- Available for morning (9-12 CT) and/or afternoon (1-4 CT) training and audit sessions
- Able to schedule 3 weeks in advance
- Ideally willing to work 30-40 hours if needed
- Note that while there is usually audit work to be done, A360 does not guarantee work hours beyond the scheduled training.
