Many find e-Text a confusing term. It means different things to different people.
To clarify, E-Text, or electronic text, refers to documents in which all graphical elements, including relevant photographs, charts and illustrations are fully explained in text (known as alternative text) and are linearized, augmenting the body text of a document to ensure usability for blind and low vision consumers. Information must be formatted as text only to ensure compatibility with assistive technologies such as screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, Voice Over, Talk Back, etc.) as well as dynamic braille displays.
Experience what this blog sounds like to your customers using a screen reader such as JAWS.
