Access in Education by Keisha Anderson, 2017 Scholarship Winner

In collaboration with the Alliance for Quality of Blind Canadians (AEBC), every year we award the T-Base Communications $2,000 scholarship to a student in Canada who is blind or has low vision in support of accessible education. Keisha Anderson is our 2017 recipient. She will attend Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC, as a first-year student in the Bachelor of Arts program. She will major in English and minor in Biology. Please read on for Keisha's inspirational essay on the topic of access in education.

As January wraps up, we can’t not share the fact it is Braille Literacy Month on the blog. We’re passionate about braille (no secret there!) and every day we work to put braille materials in the hands of people who need them, namely students and consumers who are blind or print restricted.

Bringing the Magic of the Holidays to Children—in Braille!

The holiday season is upon us. As 2016 comes to a close, we want to thank our customers, partners and friends for a wonderful year and for recognizing the importance of alternate formats.

Second CVAA Order: Summary

An important deadline in telecommunications is approaching. By Dec. 20, 2016, multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs) must be in compliance with new rules under the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act (CVAA). The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced these rules--collectively referred to as the Second CVAA Order--in late 2015, further implementing accessibility objectives established in the 21st CVAA (passed by Congress in 2010).
